报告题目       Fate determination of nascent RNAs

报告摘要       In eukaryotes, RNA polymerase II transcribes many different types of RNAs. Although these RNAs share apparent structural similarities, the fates of them can be drastically different.  Some are exported to the cytoplasm, some are degraded rapidly after transcription, and some are retained in the nucleus.  Proper sorting of nascent RNAs to the productive or the destructive pathways is a fundamental issue for ensuring accurate and precise gene expression.  To understand this, we have focused on studying two closely related aspects of gene expression: determination of mRNA export fate and selective nuclear RNA degradation.  These studies have revealed that the competition between export and degradation machineries provide an important mechanism for RNA sorting, and have uncovered NRDE2 as a key regulator for this sorting that ensures efficient assembly of export-competent mRNPs in nuclear speckles.  In this presentation, I will introduce and discuss our recent findings on the mechanism and biological relevance on nuclear RNA sorting.


报告题目       线粒体蛋白质合成及其缺陷与疾病

报告摘要      人线粒体基因组编码37种基因,全部用于线粒体蛋白质合成,突显了线粒体蛋白质合成在线粒体稳态中的核心作用。线粒体蛋白质合成受到核基因组及线粒体基因组的双重调控,其紊乱导致一系列线粒体疾病,尤其是出生缺陷型线粒体脑肌病。但长期以来,对于线粒体蛋白质合成的分子机制及其缺陷导致疾病的认识相对较少。本报告将简要介绍线粒体氨基酰-tRNA合成酶、tRNA及线粒体tRNA修饰酶在线粒体蛋白质合成中的分子机制;以及这些分子的功能缺陷导致相关线粒体疾病的分子细胞机制。
